My Personal Wastebin

No, my friends, this is not really another Rocco page. It is more intended to maintain all different kinds of pictures, scans from newspapers and magazines, my two ticket stubbs, and so on, I collected over the years. Someone over at alt.fan.frank-zappa brought up the idea to fill up alt.binaries.fz with pictures and scans, but since I do not have access to binary newsgroups I thought it´s a good idea to create my own trashcan. No wise comments, no long expertises, just binary stuff that looks somewhat like thrown away. --- And from time to time I have to empty this page, before it starts to stink...

~~~~ Joe's Garage Cassette ~~~~
J-Card
CassetteThis is a cassette I found on eBay not long ago. The cassette is taken from the Joe's Garage album, but due to time restrictions of the cassette the double album had to be reduced to 60 minutes. The tracklist, as you can see on the jcard above, is:
Side A:
  1. A Token Of My Extreme
  2. Stick It Out
  3. Sy Borg
  4. Dong Work For Yuda
  5. Keep It Greasy
Side B:
  1. He Used To Cut The Grass
  2. Packard Goose
  3. Watermelon In Easter Hay
A first listen reveals an unusual raise in the high frequency range. Wether this is from abnormal mixing, or maybe the inclusion of the DBX noise reduction mentioned on the j-card, I can't say.
Side B ends with Watermelon, but since there's some tape left at the end, the 'Central Scrutinizer' with all his laughing starts again and Watermelon can be heard a second time, until the tape ends and the song fades out somewhere in the middle! - Whoever made and compiled this tape sure knows what's good, eh?  8-)
Trying to track down the record company over internet hasn't brought a result yet, a company with this name selling cassettes, or the like, seems to be non-existant. A search on "Izin Industri" brought up a site from Indonesia, and from the (what seems to me) commercial registration number on the cassette there are some similarities in composition to the one on this side. But I can't tell for sure if this cassette really comes from Indonesia.
The j-card has no printing on the inside. The manufacturer uses blank j-cards, only the DBX part is printed on it, along with all the colored parts (frames and saxophones, etc.). Each release gets a second printing with title and tracklist, this second printing can be seen as deepening in the paper. The picture of the album is actually a photo taken from the front side of the album, cut out and then glued on the card. Note that the photo also contains the Contessa logo, this is not printed on the photo paper.
The ordering number seems to be "P-235".
The cassette mentions the tape brand "maxell (R) UD"
~~~ Zoot Allures Cassette ~~~

J-Card

Another cassette I got over eBay. This time Zoot Allures, and due to time left on the 60 min. cassette additional Studio Tan material as filler at the end of side 2. Tracklist is:

Side A:
  1. Wind Up Working In A Gas Station
  2. Black Napkins
  3. The Torture Never Stops
  4. Ms. Pinky
  5. Find Her Finer
  6. Friendly Little Finger
Side B:
  1. Wonderful Wino
  2. Zoot Allures
  3. Disco Boy
  4. Let Me Take You To The Beach
  5. Revised Music For Guitar And Low Budget Orchestra
Like Joe's Garage, this cassette is also frizzled with dbx-encoding. Abnormal sound in the higher registers, but not that strange like on Joe's.

Trying to track down the record company over internet hasn't brought a result yet, a company with this name selling cassettes, or the like, seems to be non-existant, too.

The j-card has a registration number printed or stamped on the inside, which looks similar to the one on Joe's Garage: "151/32.73.09/IK/   /T/III/85". The manufacturer uses blank j-cards, with all the colored parts (frames and the Mona Lisa, etc.). Each release gets a second printing with title and tracklist, this second printing can be seen as deepening in the paper. The picture of the album is actually a photo taken from the front side of the album, cut out and then glued on the card.

The rest of detached paper you see on the small part on the left looks like a tax sticker.

Side B of the cassette has an orange sticker instead of blue, and "dbx" is replaced with the ordering number "159".

The cassette mentions the tape brand "maxell (R) UD-I"
